Fairmont Residence

Kitchens and baths are often the most expensive spaces to renovate. There are a lot of complex parts and pieces that add up quickly. Fortunately there are also ways to achieve a high-end look on a budget.

In this kitchen, we did several things to be respectful of the budget. 1) Maintained the layout. We kept the appliances where they were. This reduced plumbing, gas, and electrical costs. That said, we did open up the wall that separted the kitchen from the living room and added an island to increase functionality. 2) Reused existing cabinets. Cabinetry is often the biggest and most expensive part of a kitchen renovation. These cabinets were in great shape, so we painted them with a fresh soft grey and they gave the space a whole new look. We also repurposed a few of the old cabinet doors on our new island to keep the look consistent. 3) Hunted for our hardware. Quality knobs and pulls can feel expensive at the end of a renovation. We currated our hardware from local salvage shops, selecting an assortable of unique brass knobs. Hardware is an easy element to swap out, so mine as well have some fun with it!
